Samuel Stubblefield
Special Envoy for Technology and Natural Systems
The Garibay Institute
Samuel Stubblefield serves as the Special Envoy for Technology and Natural Systems at The Garibay Institute for Soft Power and Public Diplomacy. He is also an artist using technology to observe, explore, experience, and build: both inward and outward, across the far reaches of the known universe.
With experience deploying artistic projects to low Earth orbit and deep space, Stubblefield has collaborated with organizations such as NASA, SpaceX, Blue Origin, Astrolab, Vast, Astrobotic, AstroForge, LifeShip, NOAA, and many others. Stubblefield is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics and speaks globally on the topics of art, technology, and space.
On Earth, Stubblefield’s work continues its exploratory nature, often creating works using data from the human mind and natural systems.
With a robust internal research and development team, Stubblefield’s studio has developed novel uses of artificial intelligence, electroencephalography, biometric sensors, computer vision, robotics, spacecraft, satellites, and numerous other industrial instruments, using them to experience our world, each other, and ourselves in new ways.
Outcomes are experiences and artifacts that combine visual, sonic, sculptural, and performative arts with interactive and immersive environments, always aiming to awaken a connection with broader nature.
Stubblefield has exhibited works and environments globally, composed music and performed live with a number of Grammy Award–winning artists, symphonies, and choruses, and has multiple awards for his work in the field of architecture and design.
The studio operates out of New York, the Hudson Valley, and Seattle, and maintains a global network of distinguished collaborators in the fields of art, science, engineering, and philosophy.
