Matthew Ball

Diplomatic Relations Director, The Garibay Institute

Matthew Ball is the Diplomatic Relations Director at The Garibay Institute for Soft Power and Public Diplomacy, a native of Northern California, embarked on his professional journey in the performing arts, notably appearing as a stage dancer in Paramount Pictures' iconic film "Footloose." He advanced his academic credentials by obtaining a master's degree in screenwriting, which propelled him into a successful 15-year career within the entertainment industry, including significant roles at The Walt Disney Company and DreamWorks Animation.

Currently serving as the Director of Public & International Affairs for the North America West Area of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Matthew specializes in cultivating strategic relationships with diplomats and consuls general. Leveraging the Church's pro bono programs and educational resources, he orchestrates humanitarian outreach initiatives that address the needs of various countries. His efforts encompass providing non-profit resources in online education, facilitating mobile consular services, organizing English as a Second Language courses for consulate staff, and promoting cultural diplomacy through music. Additionally, he acts as a liaison between diplomats and business leaders to foster international economic development. His daily endeavors are dedicated to fostering relationships and building friendships with international dignitaries, thereby enhancing global cooperation and understanding.
